A Sampling of Hunterdon County Needlework

The Astle-Alpaugh Family Foundation* is pleased to support the Hunterdon County Historical Society and its publication of “A Sampling of Hunterdon County Needlework: the motifs, the makers & their stories”, written by Dan and Marty Campanelli.

The samplers mostly done in the early 1800’s – were sewn by girls residing in the Hunterdon County area. The book offers a very personal look at the lives of the young embroiderers as well as a discussion of the motifs and scenery of the samplers.

The Hunterdon County Historical Society held a book signing on June 1 at the Deats Memorial Library. The book is $25 per copy, with all proceeds to benefit the Society.  Click here for purchase information.

*Formerly named The Edward Thatcher Astle Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
